This special edition aims to answer two main questions, the first, related to the influences of the concept of sustainability in promoting territorial development. And second, is such a proposal really feasible with the Latin American political model?
As for the articles that will make up this special edition, the panel of evaluators expects that the works reflect and expose the theme of sustainable territorial development in their respective actions and examples on the political agenda of Latin American countries. These articles will need to be worked towards analytical texts, preferably with real examples in public policies in Latin American countries and that are in line with the Earth Sciences formatting structure.
The overview of the theme of sustainable territorial development presents great polysemy and varied forms of interpretation that, in our point of view, does not demonstrate conceptual fragility, but reinforces the existence of this object as intrinsically multifaceted, interdisciplinary and necessary for the advancement of public policies in the Latin America's international agenda.
The primary goal of this special issue is to evaluate, analyze and reflect on actions, methods, concepts, public policies, models, indices, data and methodologies in favor of sustainable territorial development in Latin America.
